Jeffrey W. Moses, M.D., Chairman of the Board
Jeffrey W. Moses, M.D., Professor of Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, is Director of the Center for Interventional Vascular Therapy at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. He is also Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia.
An internationally recognized interventional cardiologist, Dr. Moses has performed more than 12,000 interventional procedures, authored over 600 publications, and served as lead investigator for numerous national and international clinical studies that have demonstrated the effectiveness and safety of coronary stent placement. In 2002, Dr. Moses was the lead investigator on a large clinical trial, the first in the U.S. that demonstrated the enormous benefit that led to FDA approval of the first drug-coated stent now used in the majority of interventional procedures in the U.S. A key faculty member and Vice President of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation, Dr. Moses has made important contributions in the areas of clinical research and educational activities in interventional vascular therapy. He is also a pioneer in developing approaches involving minimally invasive surgery, angioplasty, gene therapy, and various support devices that allow for wider application of interventional cardiovascular procedures.
Dr. Moses, who previously held a professorship in Clinical Medicine at New York University School of Medicine, also served in various positions at The New York Hospital (now NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell) in New York, where he became Associate Director of the Adult Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Director of Clinical Electrophysiology. He is a fellow in multiple professional societies and serves on the editorial board as a reviewer for numerous peer review journals.
Spencer King, M.D.
Dr. King is the Fuqua Chair of Inteventional Cardiology at the Fuqua Heart Center of Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta and Clinical Professor of Medicine at Emory University. He is also chairman of the American Board of Internal Medicine's subspecialty board in inteventional cardiology. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and specialized in internal medicine and cardiology at Emory University. Dr. King was director of the Andreas Gruentzig Cardiovascular Center of Emory from 1986 to July 2000, President of the American College of Cardiology from 1998 to 1999, and President of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions from 1990 to 1991. He is also a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and the American College of Physicians. Dr. King serves on the editorial boards of several professional journals, including Circulation and The Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and he is an editorial consultant for The New England Journal of Medicine. He has published more than 400 articles, directed numerous symposia, and co-authored or edited seven books including the 2001 edition of Hurst's The Heart.
Dr. David Cohen, Director, Mid-America Heart Institute
Dr. David J. Cohen, M.D., M.Sc. is the Director of Research at the Mid-America Heart Institute and Saint-Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, MO and Professor of Medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. His research focuses on the application of cost-effectiveness methodology to novel interventions for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. He is also active in research to determine the short- and long-term outcomes of new devices for percutaneous coronary revascularization and identifying the optimal target populations and techniques for these devices. Prior to his current appointment at the Mid-America Heart Institute, Dr. Cohen was Associate Director of Interventional Cardiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School where he also served as Director of Outcomes Research at the Harvard Clinical Research Institute. Dr. Cohen earned his M.D. at Harvard Medical School and his Master's degree in Health Policy at the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Cohen also serves on the editorial board for the American Heart Journal and Circulation and reviews for the American Journal of Cardiology, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, and Medical Decision Making. Dr. Cohen, M.D. will help guide the Company's clinical trials and other key research programs.
Dr. Joseph P. Carrozza, Director, Chief of Interventional Cardiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School
Dr. Carrozza, a widely recognized expert in the field of interventional cardiology and a leading authority in the field of interventional cardiology and has co-authored more than 100 papers relating to the treatment of cardiovascular disorders including initial descriptions of the link between diabetes mellitus and restenosis after stenting, stent recoil, and the no-reflow phenomenon after percutaneous coronary intervention. He has served as the Chief of the Section of Interventional Cardiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston for the past six years and is Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital. Prior to his work at Harvard, Dr. Carrozza was the Director of Interventional Animal Research at Beth Israel Hospital. He has also served as National Principal Investigator for four multi-center clinical trials and site Principal Investigator for more than 75 trials investigating a wide variety of devices and drugs for the treatment of coronary artery, valvular, and congenital heart diseases. Dr. Carrozza helps to guide MIVT’s research and development programs as the Company moves its proprietary technologies from the laboratory to the marketplace.
Dr. Greg Kaluza, Director of the Center for Research in Cardiovascular Interventions (CRCI) at the Methodist Hospital Research Institute in Houston, Texas
Dr. Greg L. Kaluza, M.D., Ph.D, F.A.C.C. is a recognized expert in the field of interventional cardiology. He has been published well over sixty times, including many engagements as a world recognized public speaker at major scientific symposiums. His main research interests are prevention of restenosis, local drug delivery, development of bioresorbable stents, biocompatibility testing of medical device coatings, utility of intravascular ultrasound in predicting histologic outcomes in animal models of restenosis and atherosclerosis, as well as evaluation of Optical Coherence Tomography as a tool to monitor arterial responses to stenting, particularly bioresorbable stents. Dr. Kaluza is Scientific Director of the Center for Research in Cardiovascular Interventions (CRCI) at the Methodist Hospital Research Institute in Houston, Texas. The CRCI is a multifaceted, highly specialized group focused on research in interventional cardiology. The CRCI includes an experimental animal laboratory, a cardiovascular angiographic analysis core, and a clinical research department. Dr. Kaluza advises the company’s on clinical trials and other key research programs.
